Sheila Swinney

Business Development Director

Paralegal

Since 1998, Sheila Swinney has been driving results and transforming challenges into sustainable revenue-generating strategies for businesses, entrepreneurs, and start-ups. With over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry as a business owner and Sales Operations Director, Sheila combines firsthand experience with industry expertise to guide clients to success. Her hands-on approach has consistently led to record-breaking outcomes, delivering innovative solutions that help businesses achieve seven-figure results.

Upon joining Serrano, Cagan & Cagan, Sheila established a solid foundation for building relationships with Referral Providers. Her passion for simplifying complex processes into streamlined pathways enables SCC to offer best-in-class services, recovering millions of dollars in denied and underpaid insurance benefits for our clients.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Sheila humorously refers to herself as the “short one in the family, ”standing at 5’10". When she's not working, you can find her immersed in the latest self-development book on Audible or enjoying the beach, soaking up the sun with her furry friend. Sheila also loves spending quality time with her high schooler and experimenting in the kitchen, creating delicious dishes.

Eric Brink

Business Relations Manager

Eric was born and raised in Orlando, FL. Coming from an athletic family, Eric excelled at the game of baseball and went on to play baseball in college at Tallahassee Community College. After TCC, Eric transferred to Florida State University where he received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Hospitality.

After graduation, Eric became a High School teacher and baseball coach in 2009. He later went on to become the Head Baseball coach from 2014-2019.

In 2016, his son Hayden was born and like dad, he has taken a great liking to the game of baseball. In December 2020, Eric and wife Emily brought a beautiful girl into the world, Harper Lee.

In 2019, Eric decided to make a career change and step away from teaching. Eric was hired as a Project Manager for a local roofing company in Orlando where he had close to $3 million in sales in the 3 years with the company. Before coming to the firm at the start of 2022 as Business Development Director, Eric gained a ton of knowledge about the roofing industry all while working directly with homeowners’ insurance companies and their claims.

Using his knowledge and expertise in roofing and insurance, Eric plans to build the firm bigger than ever!

Maddy Merchant

Business Development

Raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Maddy graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management. In her spare time, Maddy enjoys going to the beach, cooking, and doing yoga.

Vanessa Agudelo

Legal Intake Specialist

Born and raised in the Garden State, Vanessa was ready to trade in her flip flops for a tan when she made the move from New Jersey to Florida. She left behind the chaos of the Turnpike and the Shore, seeking a life of sunshine, the crispiest of Diet Cokes, and no more traffic on the Parkway.

As she adjusted to her new life, Vanessa landed an amazing opportunity to become a Legal Intake Specialist at SCC. And let's just say, she's found her calling- or should we say, her "case"-ing?

In her spare time, she's not exactly “intaking” and sending DocuSigns - she’s busy being an awesome wife and stepmom, rockin' her friendships, and working on becoming the best version of herself. Because when you're living your best life, you don't need a beach body - you need a beach attitude. And Vanessa's got it in spades.

Lauren Duffy

Legal Assistant to Jonathan Cagan, Esq.

Chief Marketing Officer

Lauren was born in New Jersey and raised in Jacksonville, FL.

Lauren graduated from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a specialty in Public Relations before joining the firm in 2021.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys cooking, spending time with her beloved dog and listening to true crime podcasts.

Tammy Moore

Legal Assistant to Joy Sandon, Esq.

Tammy was born and raised in Orlando, FL and lived part of her life in Arkansas before returning to Orlando, Florida as a teenager.

Tammy attended Boone High School and finished her schooling at Orlando Technical College.

Tammy currently resides in Dixie County, Florida with her husband, two children, three dogs and farm animals. In her spare time Tammy enjoys spending time with her family, animals, boating, riding four-wheelers, swimming, and the peaceful country life.

Carmen Holliday

Legal Assistant to Anthony Fouladi, Esq.

Carmen was a lifelong Texan before transplanting to Orlando FL in 2014, and often complains that Florida geography is her nemesis.

She is a proud Aggie from the 2004 class of Texas A&M University, with a BA in English and a Classics minor. She joined the firm in October of 2022.

Carmen enjoys a lively household of three sons and her husband Scott, and spending time with her church family at the Concord Street Church of Christ. In what spare time is left, she enjoys playing games both on the tabletop and her computer.

Jordyn Potts

Paralegal to Drake Cary, Esq.

Jordyn was born in Canton, Michigan and was raised most of her life in Windermere, Florida.

Jordyn was homeschooled through middle school and high school and graduated from Valencia College with two Associate of Science degrees in Paralegal Studies: Litigation and Transactional Specialties, before joining the firm in 2023.

In her spare time, Jordyn enjoys reading, writing, playing video games, and going to Disney.

Ashley Oliveras

Legal Assistant to Lindsey Parnell, Esq.

Ashley was born in the Philippines and raised in Orlando, FL.

Ashley graduated from Lake Howell in 2021 after being homeschooled for a number of years. She currently resides in Downtown Orlando with her loving husband, Lemuel and perfect Akita, Messi.

In her spare time Ashley enjoys cooking, shopping, reading, and spending time with her family.

Jarleen Fernema

Legal Assistant to Samantha Huffman, Esq.

Jarleen was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent most of her life living in Central Florida. Born to native Haitian parents, Jarleen brings a unique perspective to her work, rooted in a deep appreciation for heritage and tradition.

Before joining the firm in 2024, Jarleen graduated from Seminole State College with an Associate of Science in Paralegal/Legal Studies in 2017. With six years of dedicated service in the legal field, Jarleen is a seasoned Paralegal known for her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence. Jarleen is currently completing her Bachelor of Science in Business Management/Administration with hopes of getting into law school in the near future.

In her spare time, Jarleen enjoys being a mother to her wonderful son Caiden, cooking, tending to her cooky chickens and spending time with her friends and family.

Vitoria (Tori) Factor

Legal Assistant to Victoria Drake, Esq.

Vitoria was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, grew up traveling the world and moved to the USA in the seventh grade. These pivotal moves not only broadened her horizons but also instilled in her a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and adaptability. As a third culture kid, she effortlessly blends her Brazilian roots with the diverse experiences and cultures she has encountered. With a B.S. in Legal Studies and a B.A. in Political Science, concentrating in politics and policy, Vitoria is also fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and conversational in French. She is adept at fostering connections across linguistic and cultural boundaries.

With a unique blend of cultural insight, linguistic prowess, and a heart for service, she brings a dynamic perspective to every endeavor she undertakes. Whether working with other team members, facilitating cross-cultural communication, or simply lending a listening ear, she approaches each interaction with empathy, authenticity, and a genuine desire to make a difference. When she's not lending a helping hand, you can find her enjoying quality time with her goofy cat, Eggnog and food-obsessed dog, Bonita.

Mary Moran

Scheduler/Legal Intern

Mary was Born and raised in Tampa, Florida. After graduating high school Mary continued her education at Mary Baldwin University. She graduated with a distinction in her criminal justice major, a political science major, and a minor is psychology. She also continued her athletic career playing NCAA Womens Basketball and Track and field for Mary Baldwin.

After graduation she moved down to Orlando to pursue her law degree. She currently attends Florida A&M University College of Law which led her to joining the firm in June of 2023. In her free time, she enjoys working out with friends and going to the beach to soak up the sun.
